CustomFlow · Elite V-Shape Tailgate

CustomFlow V-EL28 — Elite Lockable V-Shape Tailgate

A black powder-coated, galvanized steel flow-through tailgate for the listed Ford truck applications. The V-shaped opening is intended for fifth-wheel-style clearance, with factory-installed rotary latches and a locking handle.

Product Description

The Elite V-EL28 replaces the original tailgate using the truck’s factory mounting hardware. Its louvered steel construction offers an open flow-through design, while the contours are shaped for the specified truck body. The black finish may be painted to coordinate with the vehicle using a suitable preparation and coating process.

Features & Benefits

  • Factory-installed rotary latches and locking handle.
  • V-shaped louvered opening rather than a straight conventional tailgate.
  • Galvanized steel construction with black powder coating.
  • Uses the truck’s original mounting hardware.
  • Vehicle-contoured design for the applications listed below.

Compatibility & Applications

  • 1997–2003 Ford F-150.
  • 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage only; this must not be treated as every 2004 F-150.
  • 1999–2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty.
  • Check fifth-wheel hitch, trailer and tailgate clearance through the actual turning and articulation range.
Before ordering

V-EL28 is application-specific. In particular, the 2004 F-150 listing is Heritage; do not select it for a different 2004 body style by model name alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which 2004 F-150 does it fit?

A: The supported listing is the F-150 Heritage. Do not extend that to the other 2004 F-150 body style.

Q: Does it fit Super Duty trucks?

A: The listed applications are 1999–2016 F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty.

Q: Does it lock?

A: Yes. It has a locking handle with rotary latches.

Q: What is the tailgate made from?

A: Galvanized steel with a black powder-coated finish.

Q: Does it include a fifth-wheel hitch?

A: No. It is a replacement tailgate; the hitch and other towing equipment are separate.

Q: Can I paint it to match my truck?

A: The existing product information permits painting the black finish. Use preparation and coatings appropriate to the existing powder coat.

Key Points & Helpful Resources

Check the exact truck generation and retain the original mounting components. A V-shaped opening does not guarantee clearance for every trailer setup.

Why Choose This Product?

This combines an open fifth-wheel-style tailgate profile with a locking handle and application-specific contours.

Ideal For

  • Listed Ford truck owners replacing a conventional tailgate with a V-shaped flow-through design.
