A wiring harness delivers power directly from the battery to your lights while keeping high current loads away from your switch and cabin wiring. When activated, the switch sends a low-current signal to the relay, which then completes the main power circuit. This setup allows your lights to run at full brightness with minimal voltage drop while protecting your vehicle’s electrical system.
Choosing the right configuration starts with how many lights you're running and where they sit.

Your harness must handle the total current your lights draw, with headroom to spare. Undersized wire heats up, drops voltage, and can melt insulation; oversized wire simply costs a little more and runs cool.
To estimate current draw, divide total wattage by system voltage. An 180-watt LED bar on a 12-volt system pulls roughly 15 amps (180 ÷ 12). Add the draw of any additional lights on the same circuit, then choose a harness and fuse rated comfortably above that figure.
LEDs draw far less than halogens, but high-output bars and multiple pods add up quickly. When in doubt, size up the harness and keep the fuse matched to the wire.
